National Elections: Bhutan Springs a Surprise: Update No. 98

In the second national elections, Bhutan sprang a surprise by electing the PDP which had just two seats in the last elections with 32 seats out of a total of 47 this time.  The former ruling party DPT could manage only 15 out of 45 they had earlier.
 

Bhutan Goes through Primary Round of National Elections: Update No.97

It should be no surprise that Bhutan went through the primary round of second National Elections on 29th May, without any major incident relating to law and order or any major violation of the election code. 
 

Bhutan: Schedule for Second Parliamentary Elections Announced: Update No. 96

The Election Commission of Bhutan officially announced the schedule of National Assembly Elections. 

As laid down in the Constitution the election will be in two stages.  In the first stage, two of the four parties who poll the maximum in the election to be held on 31 May will be chosen for the second stage to be held on July 13.
