On 6th of August, the Myanmar Government announced that the Arakan Army will not be invited for the next 21st Century Panglong Conference.
On the other hand, it indicated that the other seven Ethnic Armed Organizations who have opted out of signing the National Cease fire agreement with the Government will be invited.

Fighting in Northen Myanmar between the Myanmar Armed Forces and the Arakan Army has of late intensified and the Myanmar Army despite having more than 20,000 Soldiers in the area is certainly not winning.

The ten signatories to the National Cease fire Agreement started a five-day meeting at Chiang Mai from May 14-18 to discuss about the agreement and how to move the peace process forward.

The UWSA is perhaps the biggest Non State Ethnic Insurgent Unit in Myanmar with over 30,000 soldiers and another 10,000 Auxiliary members.
The UWSA was formed after the collapse of Communist Party of Burma in the year 1989 and celebrated “30 years of Cease fire” with the Myanmar government. The festivities lasted for three days starting from the 17th of April.

The situation in the ethnic front is rather grim, with a full scale civil war going on in Rakhine state where the Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army are engaged in heavy fighting resulting with the civil administration coming to a stand still within two months of the ongoing conflict.
