It is more than a year and a half that the new constitution was promulgated.  Yet there has been no progress at all in implementation as the parties are still quarreling over reconfiguration of different provinces.

PM Oli who had hopes to continue as the Prime Minister till the next General election in Jan or Feb 2018 is facing many problems and it is not certain whether he would continue for long.  His own party leadership as well as his coalition partners are against him and he is being accused of having failed to resolve all the outstanding problems.

On 31st August in Birgunj, the Police had to open fire on an unruly mob resulting in the death of one Dilip Charasiya.  The demonstrators had defied the curfew order and in the scuffle between the Police and the protestors, more than 25 persons were injured.  This included six Policemen too.
