The Islamabad Policy Research Institute sponsored a round table Conference on 17th July on the subject of “Managing Hyphenated Climate and Water Challenge- A case study of Pakistan under the National Dialogue Series.
The National Dialogue Series was initiated by the IPRI to facilitate cooperative solutions to major socio-economic issues and help in the formulation of broad contours of a national narrative.

The United States in 2019 stands geopolitically and strategically challenged by China in Indo Pacific, Iran in the Middle East and Russia in Eastern Europe, Northern Tier of the Middle East and has a strategic nexus with China. The US can therefore ill-afford to send confusing signals to India in 2019 on sensitive issues like Kashmir when India is the only Asian Power with Major Power national attributes is friendly to United States.

In the July 10 Issue of Foreign Policy in focus, Conn Hallinan has made a strong case that the World needs a Water treaty and has suggested that the International Water Courses Convention that came into effect on August 2014 following the endorsement of the treaty by Vietnam should be a good starting point in any dispute/conflict/cooperation among the member countries.
