Paper No. 6463              Dated 24-Nov-2018

By Dr Subhash Kapila

China in end-2018 seems set firmly on a collision trajectory with the United States which has got accentuated with Chinese President Xi Jinping with his oversized strategic ambitions having met more than his match in US President Trump imbued with his ‘America First’ national aim brooking no Chinese challenge to dilute US global predominance.

Paper No. 6460         Dated 17-Nov-2018

By Dr Subhash Kapila

China’s invitation to Japanese PM Shinzo Abe to visit China in end-October 2018 may be significant in terms of China’s shift to reset relations with Japan due to prevailing geopolitical pressures but it certainly does not herald ‘game-changer’ long term perspective in established US-led security architecture in East Asia.

Geopolitical compulsions seem to be bearing down heavily in steering Pakistan- China ‘All Weather Iron Brother Relations’ towards a massive shift in end-2018 whose first indicator has been the less than successful first visit of new Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to Beijing from November 02-05 2018.

This is borne out by the contents of the Joint Japan-India Vision Statement 2018 and the summations enshrined.

Paper No. 6451 .          Dated 26-Oct-2018

By Dr Subhash Kapila

Japan imperceptibly but surely is engaged in enhancing its security and military profile in a comprehensive manner which augurs well for overall Indo Pacific security and stability in what can be described as a joint but undeclared collaboration of the United States, Japan and India to provide an existential counterweight to China’s worrying military rise generating turbulence on its peripheries.

China's natural Allies -Pakistan and North Korea in Economic Distress

Paper No. 6449          Dated 21-Oct-2019

By Dr Subhash Kapila

Pakistan and North Korea long maintained by me as China’s only ‘Natural Allies’ are in an acute economic distress. China may have built-up Pakistan and North Korea as nuclear weapons states with missiles arsenal, however seemingly, has not contributed anything to buttress their economic strengths and resilience leaving them open to stray away from China’s orbit.

India’s Pivotal Indo-Pacific Power Build up needs US & Russian Inputs

By Dr Subhash Kapila

Contemporary and unfolding geopolitical imperatives dictate that both the United States and Russia need to stand committed to the power-buildup of India as the pivotal Indo Pacific Power. India’s power attributes of a proven responsible stakeholder in Indo Pacific security management could serve security interests of both the United States and Russia.
